Ava and Jay had such a fun wedding and Stephen and I loved capturing all of their awesome memories! Check out their love story and their images below!
How They Met:
Our story began on August 29, 2012. Ava was a Junior on the Women’s Track team and Jay was starting his second semester at Clemson and was a redshirt on the Football Team.
“Hey! I found your Vera Bradley wallet in the Lightsey bridge walkway just a bit ago! I have it at my place cause I figured it would be easier for you to get it from me then the front desk! Haha I live in building 10 in Lightsey 1 if you wanna come get it! 🙂 sorry I went through it, I figured I could find you on here to let you know I found it 🙂 -Jay”
Ava had been carrying groceries and the pet rabbit “Russell” down from the “top lot” in Lightsey with her roommate, Kamryn Sherman, moments before getting this message. She was settling down to work on homework when she saw this message on Facebook.
Ava: “I hadn’t even realized I had lost it yet! So I shot a message back saying Thank you! and that I actually lived across the sidewalk and would meet him outside in 5 and yelled to Kamryn that I had apparently lost my wallet and would be meeting the “cute new football guy” outside, I’d be back”
Jay: “We sat outside talking between the buildings for about 30 minutes and ended up exchanging numbers. Our first date was to Chipotle and we went back to Ava’s place and watched American Pie (she had never seen it before!). That was the beginning of an exciting adventure for the two of us.”
Proposal Story:
Ava had been bugging Jay for months about getting a “cute picture” with their dog, Maggie, in Falls Park in downtown Greenville. The park is one of their favorite places to go walk around in Greenville (if you haven’t been GO! most beautiful spot in the whole city) and Ava really wanted to get dressed up and have a nice picture with their dog, not in hiking clothes like all our other pictures with her.
So, July 29 comes and Ava tells Jay “Today is the day, we’re gonna take the picture with Maggie” . He fussed a little, got dressed, and went to run some “emergency errand” that had to be done RIGHT NOW. Little did she know, the errand was picking up her engagement ring from the jeweler.
They get down to the park and Jay says “Ok Ava, who is going to take this picture and where do you want to do it?” . She replied “we would just ask a random dependable looking person over by the actual water fall.” He tells Ava to “hold up one minute” as she turns to walk that way and gets down on one knee, says lots of sweet and nice things and asked her to marry him!! After she said yes, Jay replied beaming “Ok, now go find someone to take our picture sweetheart.” Yes, Ava was VERY surprised and yes, she did cry a little. The engagement ring and band belonged to Jay’s Great-Grandmother and are vintage 1940s . She left them specifically to Jay with the hopes that someday he would “find someone special to give them to”.
